BEYOND THE BASICS RESIN WORKSHOP

Beyond the Basics Resin Workshop

Add more skills to your resin bangle repertoire with this intermediate resin workshop. Now that you've mastered the basics of working with a quick curing resin, you'll want to step it up and learn some new techniques.

In Beyond the Basics, you'll learn how to create colour-block bangles, how to create bangles with floating graphics, how to embed lace, feathers, butterflies, botanicals and more. In this workshop you'll be working with both fast and slow curing resins and you'll create several pieces. Some will take 24 hours to cure and some you'll be able to pop out of the mould during the workshop. Some are complex, some are simple. But you are guaranteed to create some beautiful pieces.

What this course is all about:

This 4 hour workshop covers embedding items in slow curing resin. With a slow gel time, the resin will allow you to get really creative and play around with the items you embed. But that slower gel time also presents some different challenges which you'll learn how to overcome in the workshop. You'll learn how to embed a variety of different objects and how to prepare them to get a successful result.

What you'll make:

You'll create the five bangles pictured above. The designs and colours may vary from time to time but the techniques will remain the same. There are so many different items you can capture inside resin - some are straightforward like feathers and some are a bit trickier, like the silhouette graphic in the Birds on a Wire bangle.

What instruction you'll receive:

Classes are restricted in size so you receive individual instruction and you will leave the workshop confident that you can continue experimenting with this technique at home. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions about specific objects you might wish to include in resin.

What to bring:

A long sleeved shirt. Everything else is provided.

Additional information about this workshop:

  • This workshop concentrates on the embedding technique and assumes you know how to finish a bangle once it has been demoulded. Completing the beginner's Bangle and Ring workshop (or equivalent) is a pre-requisite.

  • Bangles poured with slow curing resin will take 24 hours to cure and will need to be picked up after the workshop. If this is not convenient, arrangements can be made to post them to you.
